Chapter 07.3

I know that when you get back you won’t be hurting for money, and it isn’t about that. But I’m setting up a trust fund just in your name, with $20 million deposited in it. I want to be fair with you, so let me know your thoughts on that. Please don’t argue. It will help to take away some of my guilt for making this decision while you are not here. With starting up a new company, the rest of our assets won’t be very liquid for quite a while, but later adjustments will be possible.

There is also a provision in the agreement relinquishing any claim by me to your death benefits, if anything were to happen while you are on this mission. At your convenience, you will be able to assign those benefits to anyone else of your choosing.

I’m sorry to have to spring this on you in this way, but under the circumstances, there really isn’t another way to do it. Please check over the attached copy of the divorce agreement. Make notes on it if changes are required and reply to me as soon as is comfortably possible.

I’m very sorry, and can’t say it enough. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. I hope all of your dreams come true.

Affectionately, Bobby

Dr. Valery Thomas,

As the second in command and in light of your psychological training, I am asking you to assist with a tragedy that has developed. It is with deep regret that I have to pass along sad news that will affect one of the crew. Things like this are never easy to hear and even worse when one is so far away and unable to do anything.
