Thanks for letting me know so quickly that you are ok and what had really happened. I’m glad I heard it from you before I saw the news. It has been a zoo with reporters calling and asking me for a quote, about how I was doing, had I heard from you, was I frantic, wanting to get the woman’s view, and so on ad nausium. They have sure had a field day with speculation and predictions of doom. But, I know you and am confident in your ability and your assurance that all will be well. Darn media, anyway. Why can’t they stick to predicting the weather and the election outcomes? Come to think of it, they’re not so great at either of those, either. Smile.

As soon as I heard from you, I called and spoke with Rich, let him know you were ok, and warned him about the press. I know he likes his anonymity and doesn’t want everyone to know about his parentage and attending WMU. Then, Mom and Dad called and I explained to them both what was going on. They were worried, but accepted my guarantee that you would be ok.

By the way, how is Ty doing, really? Better, I hope. He seems OK whenever I’ve talked to him on the phone, but still, I can tell he’s hurting and depressed. I haven’t seen him in several weeks with everything that’s been going on. Are you seeing the same things when you hear from him? I think about him from time to time and wonder how he is coping without Claire, especially around the holidays. It’s impossible to think about losing you. Those words are not in my vocabulary.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you the news, according to the latest ultrasound, Laura is having a boy! Isn’t that exciting? She and Nathan are dancing on the ceiling. He really wanted a boy and has finally gotten his wish. Mom has already started making a baby quilt. It’s a block quilt, done in shades of green, and has the ABCs stenciled on the blocks. You’ll be impressed when you see the finished product. I’ll send you a couple of pictures of the quilt and the stuffed animals I bought for the baby (couldn’t resist them). You know, I still have the one Mom made for Rich when he was a baby. That seems like so long ago, but only yesterday. Maybe a little bit of both. Does that make any sense? I guess it really doesn’t have to. A mom can feel both.

I’ve composed another little ditty for your reading pleasure since you enjoyed the tanka I sent you on our anniversary. I know it doesn’t compare with your clever lines. I think as long as it tells you my story, all is well…

Now I lay me down to sleep,
Wishing my husband was here to keep,
While I lie here wide awake,
For him my body does softly ache.

I really do miss you so very much. It is hard to sleep in that big bed and not have you next to me, breathing softly – or snoring. I don’t even mind the snoring, because it means you are there. I know I’ve said that before and can’t help but say it again. We have never been apart this long. And, especially, never gone so long without joining in the oldest of dances. It doesn’t matter whether we’re caught up in a gentle waltz and floating along, or fused together in a fiery tango with clothes all asunder. Even hard rock would feel good, you rocking me in your arms, you rocking inside me until we explode. After, we’ll drift off to sleep to a lullaby, wake the next morning at first light, the music will play, and we’ll dance. I’m giving you fair warning: be sure to get plenty of rest. When you come home to me, I plan to dance with you until dawn.

I’ll let you go now. Since you’re not here, in the morning it’s off to school and having the pleasure of enlightening young minds. They’re a lot of fun and I’ll keep you informed about our projects. This is a whole new class and who knows what they’ll come up with this year. Write soon. I’ll be waiting to hear from you.

All of my love
Your M
HOLLAND

< ≡ ♂ ≡ >

From: Emma Devlin Subject: Not Worrying Date: October 12, 2018 10:23 a.m. To: Brandon Devlin (CLT): 4 min 37.65 sec My Love, I received your e-mail.
